Benchmarking
The process of comparing an organization’s policies, practices, and performance metrics to industry standards or best practices.
Competency Mapping
Identifying the specific skills, knowledge, and behaviors required to perform a particular job effectively.
Employee Engagement
The emotional commitment employees have towards their organization, which influences their willingness to put in effort at work.
Conflict Resolution
Strategies and processes aimed at alleviating or eliminating sources of conflict within an organization.
Employee Relations
The management of the relationship between employers and employees, aimed at ensuring workplace harmony and addressing grievances.
Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)
Policies and regulations that prohibit workplace discrimination based on race, gender, age, religion, or other protected characteristics.
Exit Interview
A conversation conducted with an employee who is leaving the organization, aimed at understanding their reasons for departure and gathering feedback for improvement.
Human Capital
The collective skills, knowledge, and experience possessed by an organization’s employees, considered as a significant asset.
Job Analysis
The process of examining a job to determine its requirements, responsibilities, and the qualifications needed to perform it.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Specific, quantifiable measures used to evaluate the success of an organization, employee, or process in meeting objectives for performance.
Onboarding
The process of integrating a new employee into the organization, helping them understand their role and the company culture.
Performance Appraisal
The regular review of an employee’s job performance and overall contribution to an organization.
Workforce Planning
The process of analyzing and forecasting the talent needs of an organization to ensure it has the right number of employees with the right skills at the right time.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
A company’s commitment to manage the social, environmental, and economic effects of its operations responsibly and in line with public expectations.
Retention
Strategies and practices used by employers to keep valuable employees and reduce turnover.
Redundancy
The elimination of jobs within an organization due to restructuring, downsizing, or technological changes, often leading to layoffs.
Mediation
A process in which a neutral third party helps resolve conflicts or disputes between employees or between employees and management.
HR Audit
A comprehensive method to review current HR policies, practices, documentation, and systems to identify needs for improvement and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
Grievance Procedure
A formal process for employees to raise complaints or concerns about workplace issues or treatment.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Workplace services provided to employees to help them deal with personal problems that might affect their job performance.
Disciplinary Action
Steps taken by an employer to address an employee’s misconduct or performance issues, which may range from a warning to termination.
Affirmative Action
Policies that aim to increase opportunities for historically underrepresented groups in the workplace through proactive measures.
Skills Gap Analysis
The process of identifying the difference between the skills employees currently have and the skills needed to perform their jobs effectively.
Recognition Programs
Initiatives designed to acknowledge and reward employees for their contributions, achievements, and tenure, enhancing motivation and engagement.
Psychometric Testing
Standardized assessments used to measure individuals’ mental capabilities and behavioral style, often used in recruitment and selection processes.
Performance Improvement Plan (PIP)
A formal document outlining specific steps an employee must take to improve performance, including goals, deadlines, and support measures.
Flexible Benefits Plan
A benefits plan that allows employees to choose from a range of benefit options to tailor their benefits package to their individual needs.
Employee Benefits
Non-wage compensations provided to employees in addition to their normal wages or salaries, such as health insurance, pensions, and paid time off.
